Obituary

Delbert Leon Englebretson, 92, of McLoud, passed from this life to his heavenly reward Friday morning, May 22, 2026. Delbert was born December 15, 1933 in Tuttle to Oliver and Alice (Waller) Englebretson. He graduated from Tuttle High School in 1952. He met Patsy in Minco and the couple was married in Amarillo, Texas on January 31, 1970 then settled in McLoud . They recently celebrated 56 years together. Delbert started as a lineman at OG&E then advanced to line supervisor and later a tree trimming coordinator retiring in 1994 after many years of service. During that time , he attended Rose, Tulsa J r. College, and Langston University where he was only a few ho urs short of his bachelors degree. After retir ement, he taught fourth grade kids about electrical safety through an OG&E program. Delbert loved to play, sing, and write music. He played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano and harmonica. He was a devout member of McLoud United Methodist Church and McLoud Masonic Lodge. He volunteered for Ronald McDonald House, McLoud youth sports, and Lions Club to name a few. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Mac and Joe, and his siblings George, Eldon, Maxine, and Bud. Those left to honor his memory and mourn his passing include his wife Patsy of the home; daughters - Debbie Bartosovsky (Mike James), Kathy VanScoyoc (Doug), Terrie Walker, Donna Williams (Danny), Shelley Mauldin; and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the McLoud United Methodist Church. Lunch will be provided at noon. Feel free to bring memories and memorabilia to share with friends and family. Arrangements are under the care of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.
