Obituary

On October 21, 2026, Donald Lee Johnson, 85, of Yukon, formerly of Meeker, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. While we grieve his absence, find comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

Donald was born on August 15, 1941, in Meeker, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Edith (Edmundson) Johnson. He was the third of six children and was raised in a loving Christian home surrounded by devoted parents and siblings. From them, he learned the values of faith, hard work, honesty, compassion, and service to others. These principles became the foundation of his life and remained his guide throughout his eighty-five years.

Don graduated from Meeker High School and went on to build a career marked by dedication and leadership. He worked for Fife Corporation for more than twenty years, serving in quality control and later as a shop supervisor. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence earned the respect of all who knew and worked alongside him. Following his retirement from Fife Corporation, Don moved to Coalgate, Oklahoma, where he continued his life of service as Chief of Police for the Coalgate Police Department. He approached this role with integrity, fairness, and a genuine concern for the people he served.

After retiring a second time, Don devoted his days to the things he loved most. He spent much of his time at Lake Eufaula, Lake Texoma, and on the family farm in Coalgate. These special places brought him peace, happiness, and countless treasured memories. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman who found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether he was casting a line into the water, hunting in the woods, or simply enjoying God's creation, he was happiest surrounded by nature. He was never one to sit idle and was always tinkering with something, finding satisfaction in fixing, building, or improving whatever was put before him.

Family, neighbors, and friends knew Don as a man who could repair just about anything. If something was broken, people knew exactly who to call. He never expected payment for his time or labor, instead, his reward was the joy of helping others. Seeing a problem solved and a neighbor helped was all the compensation he ever wanted. His generosity, willingness to serve, and selfless spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Edith Johnson; his brothers, LaDoye Johnson and Steve Johnson; and his beloved granddaughter, Kelsey Johnson.

Don is survived by his brothers, Jerry Johnson, Eddie Johnson and wife Tammy, Wendell Johnson and wife Janie; his sister, Jane Lafoe and husband Jackie; his sons, Billy Johnson and wife Nancy of Coalgate, Oklahoma,

and Scott Johnson and wife Cindy of Yukon, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Hale Bilodeau, Brent Johnson, Brett Woolum, and Bailey Woolum; his great-grandchildren, Lexi Bilodeau and Kase Bilodeau; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory for years to come.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at New Salem Cemetery, south of HWY 62 on US 177 to 1050 Rd, then east to the cemetery.
