Obituary

Harold "Wayne" Cole, 74, of Newalla, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, after a short battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Wayne was born on September 15, 1951, in Santa Paula, California, to Harold Rex and Marie (Maxwell) Cole. He was raised and educated in Fillmore, California, where he met the love of his life, Cleta. The couple was married on May 21, 1977, in Fillmore.

Wayne owned a trucking company in California before relocating his family to McLoud, Oklahoma, in 1994. After moving to Oklahoma, he worked at General Motors, hauled cattle to market for several years, and later worked for Dolese until his retirement. Following retirement, Wayne continued working for O'Reilly Auto Parts, delivering parts to automotive service locations throughout the area.

Wayne and Cleta shared a love of travel and enjoyed exploring much of the western two-thirds of the United States together. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who faithfully supported his children by attending their sporting events, horse shows, school activities, and every milestone he could. His steady presence, encouragement, and love will be remembered by all who knew him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Rex and Marie Cole, and by his grandchildren, Gracie Miller and Breanna Miller.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Cleta Cole, of the home; his children, Becky and husband Cary Dunehew of Salt Lake City; Brian and wife Charity Miller of McLoud; Suzanne "Sue" and husband Carl Meadows of Newalla; and Melissa and husband Neil McLemore of Tecumseh. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim Cole of Fillmore, California, and Stephen Cole of Newalla; his sister, Linda Boynton of Fillmore, California; his grandchildren, Brittany and husband Nick Laxton, Myles Dunehew, Garrett Brown and fiancée Makenna Clayborn, Emily Miller, Ashley Meadows and fiancée Austin Blevens, Tyler Brown, Ethan Dunehew, Lauren Meadows, Alyssa Miller, Alexis and Jacob Gomez, Salena and Dayvid Baughman, and Drinnon McLemore; and his great-grandchildren, Scarlett Laxton, Emmett Laxton, Jaxton Gomez, Greyson Gomez, and Luna Belle Baughman.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah. Online condolences may be shared at www.asasmith.net.
