Obituary

James Edward Davis, 68, of Luther, passed from this life on October 2, 2026, at

Mercy Hospital of Oklahoma City. Jim was born in Elgin, Illinois, to Guy and Beverly

(Nesler) Davis. He was reared and educated in Elgin graduating with the class of 1976.

He joined the United States Army and served four years with distinction. He served

several more with the Army Reserves. Jim later attended training as an electrician and

served as a lineman for many years for Commonwealth Edison and various other

electric companies across the country. His favorite passions were his dogs, they were

his “babies”. He traveled the United States with them and several friends throughout the

years. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed time working on his marksmanship

with his guns as well as bow and arrow. Another favorite pastime was working with

friends remodeling and rebuilding houses.

He was preceded in death by his parents Guy Davis and Beverly Donofrio.

Survivors include his brother Walter and his wife Janet Donofrio of Montverde; sisters

Clara (Davis) and husband David Kappen of Harrogate, Tennessee, Nancy (Davis)

Bunn of Belvedere, Illinois, Laura Davis of Texas; and many nieces and nephews, and

friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the

Asa Smith Memorial Chapel of Harrah, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. that day

in the Fort Sill National Cemetery of Elgin, Oklahoma.
