Obituary

MSGT. Lloyd Charles (Sonny) DesCombes was born on February 12, 1942, to Howard Russell DesCombes and Maxine Marie DesCombes in Springfield, Ohio, Clark County. As a teenager, he helped his dad with a sign business and enjoyed hunting with his two uncles.

In 1960, he graduated from Greenlon High School and joined the Air Force and married Clara Bell Cox. They had two children, Faith Yvonne and Lloyd Charles (Chip) DesCombes II.

He had a love of horses. He was president of the Oklahoma Trail Riders Association. He and his son enjoyed participating in the 1976 Centennial Trail Ride.

He had several occupations throughout his lifetime. He was a lineman for OG&E for 9 ½ years, he was in business with his brother in setting up mobile homes, he did telephone communications and wreck outs, a truck driver for himself and several different companies, had his own tree business until arthritis caused him to retire.

He served 33 years, 11 months, and 18 days in military service, including Army, Air Force, and Air National Guard. He served several trips overseas. He worked in communications and set up towers, radar equipment, etc.

He married Thelma Ruth Stein on June 12, 1993. They lived on 80 acres where he enjoyed working on the land and with cattle. He attended the Harrah Church of the Nazarene with Thelma.

Those who have preceded him in death are his parents, brother Richard DesCombes, sister Sharon DesCombes, and stepson Jeffrey Vaughn Stein. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, daughter Faith Reyburn and her husband Dennis, son Chip and his wife Veronica, stepson Bryan Stein and his wife Gena, stepson Rance Stein and his wife Paula, stepson Grant Stein, and step-daughter Carmella Kelly and her husband Jeff. He had 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Thelma and family would like to thank Best Home Health, McLoud Nursing Home, and Luminos Hospice for the excellent loving care they have given Sonny all these years. We would also like to thank the church for all their help during this time.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 20, at the Harrah Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery of Harrah with full military honors.  Cremation has been affected.
