Mildred Fern Stone ~ June 8, 1939 – October 21, 2026
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of a truly special woman, Mildred Fern Stone, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 21, 2026. Born on June 8, 1939, in Boswell, Oklahoma, she was the beloved daughter of Lorene Winton and William Pike. She was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, a proud great-grandmother, and a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her working years, she served as a surgical instrument technician in a hospital. In her later years, she continued her calling to serve by working as an in-home caretaker for the elderly. Through both roles, she demonstrated a caring heart.
Her love for the Lord was a guiding light throughout her life. She loved going to church, worshiping the Lord, reading her Bible, and lifting her family up in prayer. She believed in the power of prayer and carried the names and needs of those she loved before the Lord. Her faith was more than something she practiced; it was a part of who she was. She also loved to dance, shop, watch game shows, cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, and, most of all, spend time with her family.
One of the most treasured traditions she leaves behind was her famous birthday song. It was her own special way of celebrating the people she loved. That song, along with the laughter and smiles it brought, will forever echo in the hearts of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorene Winton and William Pike; her brother, Dan Pike; her husband, Marion Stone; and her daughter, Darlene Heyns. We find comfort in the hope of a Heavenly reunion where loved ones are together again.
She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children by both blood and love: Pamela Cantrell, Wendy Stewart, Rita Thompson, Linda Sue Reagan, and Johnny Stone. As well as her sister, Gladys McCandless, and their extended family. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and an abundance of great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of her love, her lessons, and her legacy into the future.
Though our hearts grieve the loss of her earthly presence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. We imagine Heaven welcoming her home. Until we meet again, may she dance in Heaven, sing with the angels, and rest in the beautiful presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23
