Obituary

Samuel Knoles George, 75, of Harrah, passed from this life to the next, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

Sam was born November 10, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Delbert Ernest and Maxine Lavonne “Bonnie” (Knoles) George. He was reared and educated in Colorado Springs; he later attended Southern Colorado State College where he met his bride to be Mary Lou Webb. The couple married on June 6, 1971. After graduating from SCSC, Sam and Mary Lou moved to Rolla Missouri for Sam to get his master’s degree from the Missouri School of Mines. In 1974, the couple moved to Midwest City so Sam could work for Tinker Air Force Base as an Electrical Engineer. It was supposed to be just until he could find work back in Colorado, but he stayed and later retired from Tinker in 2005. In 1980, the couple moved to Harrah.

Sam loved to “tinker” with clocks and computers for relaxation and just for fun. He had a lifelong fascination with trains and took many train trips with his family. He was an attentive husband and father following the activities of his children, even teaching them how to properly maintain and service their cars and how to drive a manual transmission. He loved playing board games such as chess, Monopoly and Mexican Train keeping a running scorecard of the winners.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 years Mary Lou of the home; daughter Susan Godman Crain and husband Jason Crain of Mustang and son Ethan James “EJ” George and wife Angela George of Harrah; a three grandchildren Henley Godman and Starklei and Faxtyn George.

A church led Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Harrah Nazarene Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given in Sam’s name to the American Cancer Society. American Cancer Society/donate
