Thomas "Tom" Lee
Creed
Feb 1, 1944 — Aug 10, 2026
Newalla, Oklahoma
Thomas Lee Creed of Newalla passed away at home on August 10th, 2026 with his wife Rose Ann at his side. He was born February 1st, 1944, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It was unknown if he was a great baby or an awful one, but his parents Kenneth Jack Creed and Mary Jane (Gates) Creed didn’t want to chance it apparently and stopped after 1. He was known as Thomas by the government, Tommy by his Wisconsin family, Tom to most, and Dad or Papa by the lucky few. His early years were in Wisconsin, but the family moved to Newalla to stay with his grandma and step-grandpa in a log cabin built in the 1890’s. He attended Texas School in a geographically odd part of Newalla that was uphill both ways from their home, and he frequently mentioned the thrilling walks to school. He later went to McLoud Public Schools and finally Monroney and Midwest City High School once him and his mother moved to the new Glenwood addition, where he got to frequently dodge crashing aircraft. He was so inspired, he joined the Air Force and after basic training and tech school got stationed at Altus Air Force Base. He met fellow MWC Bomber Rose Ann Koszelak on a blind date on one of his weekends back home and they were soon married. They welcomed their 1st son Terry in 1965 and figuring there was no way they could do any worse, they had another son Scott in 1972. After his stint in the Air Force, he briefly worked at Wall Colmonoy in OKC, and received job offers from both Tinker and the OKC Fire Department on the same day. Rose recommended Tinker due to safety, and he worked there until retiring at a fairly young age in the late 1980’s. He got bored after a month and sold cars at Hudiburg Chevrolet for a while. He was a security guard at a high-rise residence down the street from the Alfred P. Murray building. The same Alfred P. Murrah who sent his no-good dad to prison for stealing his grandmother's checks. He finally returned to the aircraft industry and worked at AAR as an A&P Mechanic, and later a sheet metal mechanic. He worked both at Will Rogers with AAR and at Tinker on a contract with them. He finally retired for good from formal work, but did help a local couple, Bill and Dixie, to make some extra golfing money. Tom had many hobbies through the years. He was an avid quail hunter, where his greatest accomplishment was catching one in his bare hand when he flushed a covey up towards him. He was also a deer hunter, where his most successful weapon was a Ford F-150. He briefly drag raced with his sons in the mid to late 90’s, mostly at Thunder Valley. He did however win the 1st “Big Money” race the family attended at Mid America Dragway in Ark City, KS. He loved a good bonfire, and you’d see his upcoming burns all around their property in neat piles. His main love was Golfing. He started golfing in the 1980s with many friends from Tinker and would travel all around and play with anybody who would answer the phone and say yes. He stayed golfing until his ole hip just wouldn’t let him swing well, just a few years ago. He kept watching most of the PGA tournaments weekly though. Tom was a very social person. Him and Rose would go dancing with his in-laws at the VFW, he spent many evenings at the Bucket Brigade and made the family extremely proud when he brought home the coveted “Head up his ass” trophy from the Tinker Managers outing at the lake. He would jump on the golf cart when his sons would get to the racetrack and go visit everybody for the 1st hour or so. He cheered them on too many wins and championships and got to be in a ton of winner’s circle pictures. He was very active in his son’s lives as they grew up. He kept a log of Terry’s football games, recording tackles, sacks, how many quarterbacks he knocked out of the game and any plays Terry got beat on. There are still pencil marks on the wall of the garage showing the progression of Terry’s weightlifting. He took some karate classes with Terry at Hagerty’s until he broke his foot, ending any potential showdown with Chuck Norris. He was Scotts wrestling coach in grade school and attended all their activities throughout school. With Scott it was awards assemblies, with Terry it was meetings with the teacher or principal. Him and Rose Ann would have celebrated their 62nd year of marriage just a few days after he passed. They spent many years not traveling because of his hatred of flying. They loved to find new places to eat and hit up all the senior specials at the Casinos. He was lucky to have the greatest mom to ever grace the earth but had a dad who was unforgettable for the wrong reasons. He didn’t let that affect him though, and it’s unknown if he was the perfect dad by whatever metric they use, but he was definitely the perfect dad for Terry and Scott. He had many grandkids and great-grandkids that he loved and they loved him. Taking them for rides on the golf cart, hitting golf balls in the backyard, making snow cones, or just asking about their lives. He will definitely be missed by many, but he left a lasting mark that will go on for generations. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Rose, of the home. His sons, Terry and wife Karen of Harrah, and Scott and wife Twila of Newalla. Grandkids, Ashley and Josh Soward, Tyler and Ashley Creed and Barrett Creed. Great-Grandkids, Avery and Zane Soward, and Weston and Wyatt Creed. Step-Grandkids Alex Heydt, and Cody Newman and Emily Newman. There will be a memorial/get-together at a later date. In lieu of flowers, go play a round of golf and enjoy yourself.
