Harrah

Dorothy May Magga, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 28, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on January 19, 1937, in Marysville, Kansas, Dorothy lived a life full of love, resilience, and warmth, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

Dorothy was the daughter of Herman Kracht and Lillian Francis Kracht, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion. She graduated from Marysville High School, marking the beginning of a life characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family.

In 1957, Dorothy married Bill Lovins in Colorado, and together they welcomed four children into the world: Will, Diane, Alan, and Lori. After their marriage ended in divorce, Dorothy found love again and married Donald William Magga in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1971. This union not only brought joy to her life but also introduced her to four stepdaughters: Denise, Debbie, Darlene, and Michelle. The love of her family forever enriched Dorothy's life, though she was heartbroken by the loss of her son Alan, her daughter Lori, and her husband Donald.

Dorothy’s career included working at a printing press in Torrance, California, but her proudest role was that of a nurturing guardian. In 1992, she became the guardian of her granddaughter Keri, a role she embraced with all her heart. As Keri grew up, Dorothy volunteered at her schools and became an integral part of her community, often alongside her loving husband Don. Their dedication to volunteering earned them several accolades, a testament to their caring spirits.

As Dorothy grew older, her world revolved around her family. She spent countless joyful hours playing games with her granddaughter Keri and later, with Keri’s daughter, Paisley. The bond between them was special, filled with laughter, stories, and crosswords that brightened their days. Dorothy’s nurturing nature extended to all her grandchildren: Robert, Michael, Jennifer, Jessica, and Jimmy, as well as her great-grandchildren: Landyn, Mackenzy, Brayden, Evelyn, Conner, Bryce, Hailey, and Alyssa. Each child held a special place in her heart, and her love for them was boundless.

Dorothy was known for her sweet, caring, and kind demeanor. Her smile lit up every room, and her presence was a comforting beacon for all who knew her. She was a light in the lives of her family and friends, and her legacy of kindness will continue to shine brightly through the generations she leaves behind.

In her later years, Dorothy enjoyed playing games with her great-granddaughter Paisley. Her life was a tapestry of joy, woven with love and laughter. She was Paisley’s sunshine and Paisley was hers.

Dorothy May Magga is survived by her son Will Lovins, her daughter Diane Goldsmith, her granddaughter Keri Bacon, her great-granddaughter Paisley Bacon, her stepdaughters, and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Alan, her dear daughter Lori, and her husband Donald.

Her last moments were spent peacefully at home with her granddaughter Keri, Keri’s husband Corey, and her great-granddaughter Paisley.

Dorothy May Magga will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, a constant reminder of the joy and sunshine she brought into the world.
