Helen Lucille Cooksey, 97, of McLoud passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
Helen was born November 12, 1928, in Henry Illinois, to Lloyd O. and Dorothy M. (Arnold) Schlosser. She was raised and educated in Henry graduating from Henry-Senachwine High School in 1946 and later attended secretarial school. Helen lived a long, faith-filled life defined by devotion to her family, her Catholic faith and the Catholic Daughters. She married the love of her life, Walter D. Cooksey, on June 18th 1949, in Henry, IL. and together they raised seven children. She followed her husband throughout his time in the service and finally settled in Oklahoma. Helen worked as a tax preparer and later an instructor for H&R Block until retirement.
Helen and Walter shared a joyful passion for square dancing and adventures. They also delighted in traveling with their family, creating cherished memories.
Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and the “rock” of the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, brothers Lloyd and Donald Schlosser and daughter Ruth Annette Cooksey.
Helen is survived by her children Thomas Cooksey of McLoud, daughters Kathy and husband Mike Beaucourt of Yukon, Mary Lankford of McLoud, Carol Langston of Wellston, Teresa Moon of McLoud and Sharon and husband Jim Thomas of Harrah along with her grandchildren, Michael B, Michael, Wendy, Jennifer, Darrell, Chance, Jessica, Tyler, Kayla, Alyx and many great-grandchildren.
Helen will be remembered for her warm heart, her steady faith, and the family closeness she fostered throughout her life.
Friends may greet the family 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday Nov. 30th, the Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday Dec. 3, 2025 at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. that day in Arlington Memory Gardens in OKC. Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of her wonderful life.
