James Edward “Jim” Jarvis, 71, of Newalla, passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, February 21, 2025. Jim was born August 5, 1953, in Xenia (near Dayton), Ohio, to James C Jarvis and Buledith (Owens) Jarvis. The military life led to him being raised in several areas across the country by his mother and stepfather Donald L. Vlad. After high school Jim joined the United States Air Force serving his country proudly for 10 years. His work in the Air Force included aerospace control and warning systems as a research and development technician and as tactical aircraft maintenance specialist. He later worked for Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. restaurants as a district manager and then changed positions to a general manager of the Carl’s Jr. in Shawnee. Even though Jim retired in 2020, he continued to manage the company’s IT department from home. On November 27, 1992, he married Dianne (Murray) Esker and together they blended their two families and were married 33 loving years.
Whether at work or home Jim was known as a mentor and could fix nearly everything. His intelligence and caring demeanor made him the favorite with his family, co-workers, and friends looking for help with any issue whether it was lending a listening ear or fixing a problem. He loved being with his family and entertaining his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. His hobbies included RV camping, baking, gardening, and family genealogy that led to new family contacts.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, and a daughter Charmain.
