Ruth Annette Cooksey, 69, of Russellville, died Friday, November 22, 2024, at her residence. The daughter of Walter and Helen (Schlosser) Cooksey, Ruth was born February 11, 1955, in Altus, Oklahoma. She grew up with a passion to help others and with a degree in Biology & Chemistry, she embarked on a long 20-year career in nursing with Johnson County Regional Home Health before retiring in 2020.
Ruth loved visiting with her family in Oklahoma and spending time with her granddaughters and her dog, Tink, who stayed in her lap every chance she could. Ruth loved to play trivia games and spent her spare time gardening.
People would often say that Ruth was the most independent and strongest women they ever knew, citing her fiery spirit and ambitious mind. She always took care of others and constantly tried her hardest with everything she put her mind to do.
She was preceded in death by partner, Wannetta Wilson, and her father, Walter Cooksey.
Her survivors include her daughter, Wendy Foster (Dylan); her three granddaughters, Emilee Foster, Alyson Foster, and Olivia Foster all of Russellville; her mother, Helen Cooksey of McLoud, Oklahoma; and her five sisters, Kathy Beaucourt (Michael), Mary Lankford, Carol Langston, Teresa Moon & Sharon Thomas (James); her brother, Thomas Cooksey; and many nieces & nephews.
